Here are our available roles:
The Application Process
-
A cure can’t wait! We’re a Charity that moves at pace and our application process is no different.
We normally advertise roles for two weeks and will then start to swiftly shortlist candidates and set up initial interviews. So if you want to help us accelerate change, then you’ll need to move quickly.
-
If you’re keen to join the team then please submit a CV and cover letter which details why you want to join us specifically, as well as why you’re a good fit for the role. We’re keen to ensure that our recruitment process is inclusive so if you’d find it beneficial to submit your application in a different format, please drop us a line at careers@thebraintumourcharity.org.

We want you to thrive in your interview so we’ve created a video (see below!) to show you what to expect from our recruitment process.
Stage 1:
If shortlisted, you’ll be invited to a first stage interview which will take place online and last around 30 minutes. This gives you a chance to bring your CV to life, explain your motivation for applying and demonstrate how you’d fit into the team and add to our culture and values. This stage will normally be attended by the hiring manager and someone from our friendly People & Culture team.Stage 2:
We always provide feedback at each stage of the process and if you’re successfully through to the second stage you’ll be invited to a face-to-face interview at our lovely office in Fleet. In order to further assess your suitability for the role we’ll ask you to complete a task relevant to the role. You’ll either work on this before the interview and present back on the day or complete it at an agreed date and time.
The panel for the second interview will normally include the recruiting manager, a senior manager and someone from our People & Culture team. If we can, we’ll often try to build in an opportunity for you to connect with others at The Charity while you’re visiting the office to help you get a feel of what it would be like to work with us. And for roles with people management responsibility, we’ll ask you to undertake a psychometric assessment. -
Your cover letter is your chance to shine: show us why you’re passionate about joining our team
Learn all you can about who we are and take some time to reflect on our values, mission and purpose before applying
Don’t feel like you need to rush to reply to an interview question. Take a breath and pause for a minute. We like thoughtful, clear and concise answers the most – the best answers are always the ones that are relevant to the role!
Remember that you are checking that we are the right fit for you too. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or challenge us on our thinking
Be you. We want to know the real you. Remember, even if we don’t feel you’re right for the role that you’ve applied for, it might be that there are other opportunities that you’d be perfect for

We aim to make our recruitment process as accessible and inclusive as possible and we know that by making small changes to the process, we can make a big difference to people’s experience with us.
If you feel that an adjustment to the recruitment process will enable you to be your best, brilliant self, then just let us know what you need and we’ll do all we can to support you.
Examples of adjustments might include: providing additional time to complete assessments/interview tasks, offering a private space to meet additional needs (for example using our multi-faith prayer room or breastfeeding space), using the chat function while on an online interview or providing neurodiverse candidates with interview questions in advance.
Please let the People & Culture team know about your specific needs, so we can ensure you flourish!

How we embrace Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in our recruitment process
Our recruitment practices at The Charity are designed with Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) at the forefront of our mind. As part of our EDI strategy, we want to accelerate change at every step of the recruitment process to ensure that our hiring process is fair, transparent and open to candidates from all backgrounds.
📄Job adverts
We ensure all of our adverts are carefully crafted using inclusive language, with each job description being assessed by a gender-decoding tool to remove any gender biased language. Job descriptions are individually assessed and we only ask for essential qualifications to eliminate any unnecessary barriers for potential candidates.
🌐Advertising
Our job openings are posted on websites that target a wide spectrum of individuals and actively promote diversity and inclusion to ensure we are reaching a wide pool of candidates as well as targeting underrepresented groups.
🤝Reasonable adjustments
At The Charity, providing reasonable adjustments to accommodate the diverse needs of our candidates is extremely important to us – we want our candidates to be able to be at the top of their game. You can find our access report here, which details the accessibility of the building.
🚫Blind recruitment
We use a blind recruitment system which allows us to remove identifying information such as names, genders and ages from CVs and cover letters during the initial screening process to prevent unconscious bias.
🗣️Structured Interviews
During the interview process, candidates are asked consistent sets of questions to ensure a fair and unbiased interview process.
👥Diverse interview panels
To ensure a range of perspectives and experiences are reflected in our interview panel, we ensure individuals from different backgrounds, levels and departments are represented in the interview process to reduce unconscious bias.
📝Constructive feedback
We offer constructive feedback to unsuccessful candidates as we want to encourage growth and personal development so our candidates can enhance their suitability for future opportunities.
📚We train our managers
Our commitment to EDI is reinforced through dedicated training for hiring managers. We make sure our hiring managers understand the impact of unconscious bias on the recruitment process and give them the tools they need to avoid their own biases.
📊Collecting diversity data
We gather anonymised diversity data by encouraging candidates to voluntarily share demographic information at the start of the application process to help us assess the effectiveness of our EDI initiatives and help us improve our candidate experience. This data is used to help us identify gaps and improve diversity internally.

We're proud to be disability confident
We're committed to fostering an inclusive work place that anyone can be a part of.
